The Genus Hurricane Rig uses a beam splitter to orientate the two cameras used on the rig. The beam splitter allows 50% of the light to reach the top camera while reflecting the other 50% to the lower camera. The rig allows for varying interocular distances (creating different 3D depths) and for varying convergences (in order to alter 3D depth).
Our challenge in the 3D Production Initiative is to find out how the rig can be effectively employed for different focal lengths and to create different 3D effects.
